Following are the highlights of cemetery regulations taken from the Diocesan Statutes regarding Catholic cemeteries. Our complete code of regulations may be picked up at the rectory.
1. The Diocese of Burlington holds title to all church land, including cemeteries. The Cemetery Commission grants lease-title to lot holders. The Title is not transferab;e by gift or sale and lot holders agree to abide by rules and regulations set forth by the Commission and the Diocese.
2. Decorating and Care of Lots:
a. The right to plant flowers, shrubs, or trees is under the authority of the Cemetery Commission
b. Planting without permission shall enable management to remove same.
c. No earth fill, sodding, or seeding shall be done without consent
d. No artificial flowers shall be allowed at any time.
e. Flower tubs, sprays of cut flowers and plants are permitted from May 20th to October 1st and will be removed when unsightly or inconvenient to maintenance
f. Military service flags to be removed before snow fall, or by November 1st. Metal holders remain year round.
g. Perpetual care established when lot is sold.
h. Commission accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to decorations, even when done by ceemtery machinery, and has the right to dispose of unsightly or broken containers. Nor is Commission responsible for vandalism.
i. Urns may be placed on base of monumnet - exception Memorial Day
j. Shrubbery authorized by Commission shall be no higher than monument, and lot owner shall keep shubbery trimmed.
k. Rules and regulations for planting and decoration can be changed by the Cemetery Commission at any time.
3. Monuments, Markers, and Foundations
